/* Godspeed Digital — webfonts

   Acid Grotesk is the brand typeface — a modern neo-grotesque sans (the real
   licensed files, supplied by the client). Used for display/headlines.
   No italic weight ships with the family; emphasis renders as synthetic oblique.
   The GODSPEED wordmark is a separate custom serif logotype — always used as
   artwork (assets/logos/), never re-typeset. Body/UI uses Geist, and metadata
   captions use Geist Mono.

   TWO THINGS WERE WRONG HERE, both fixed 2026-08-17, both measured on the live
   site rather than guessed at.

   1. GEIST WAS NEVER LOADING. This file used to end with
        @import url('https://fonts.googleapis.com/css2?family=Geist...')
      sitting AFTER the @font-face rules. CSS requires @import to precede every
      other rule except @charset, so a late one is ignored completely. Measured
      on production: zero requests to googleapis or gstatic, and document.fonts
      held no Geist entry at all. Every visitor has been reading the body copy in
      Helvetica Neue and the mono captions in whatever monospace their OS
      defaults to, since launch.

      Geist and Geist Mono are now self-hosted, which also removes a third-party
      request from a site whose privacy policy states it does not follow
      visitors to other websites. Both are OFL-licensed, so serving them
      ourselves is permitted. Both are VARIABLE: one file covers 100-900, which
      is why there is a single @font-face per family, not one per weight.

   2. THE .otf MASTERS WERE THE THING BEING SERVED. Four desktop OpenType files,
      200KB total, uncompressed for the web. They are now subset to latin and
      converted to woff2: 200KB -> 84KB, 58% smaller, with no glyph loss.

      The subset is deliberately generous rather than minimal, because the site
      uses curly quotes, the middot separator, guillemets on the back links, an
      em dash in the acknowledgement and accented names. A dropped glyph is
      invisible until the one page that needs it renders a tofu box.

      The .otf masters stay in the repo as the source for rebuilding, and are
      excluded from deploy in .vercelignore: they are desktop-format files for a
      licensed commercial typeface, and on a public URL they were downloadable
      by anyone who guessed the path.

   Rebuild with fontTools if the masters change. The subset ranges are recorded
   in the commit that introduced them. */

/* --------------------------------------------------------------- Trust 3A

   Trust 3A (MCKL, Jeremy Mickel), the display face since the rebrand. Licensed
   through Adobe Fonts (Adam's Creative Cloud), web project bra8cln, set up
   2026-10-08 with exactly the three weights the site uses: Light 300, Regular
   400, Medium 500 (measured across every page; no italic or bold anywhere).
   Adobe's licence requires its own embed code, so every page carries
   <link rel="stylesheet" href="https://use.typekit.net/bra8cln.css"> in its
   head; the family name it registers is 'trust-3a'. The CSP in vercel.json
   allows use.typekit.net and p.typekit.net for it. If the Creative Cloud plan
   lapses, Adobe stops serving the font and headings fall back to Geist.
   The old MCKL trial files in fonts/_trial/ are no longer used. */
